1. Information We Collect

Practora collects and processes the following categories of personal information on behalf of medical practices:

  • Patient demographic information (name, phone number, SA ID number, age, gender)
  • Medical information (conditions, medications, lab results, consultation notes)
  • Practice staff credentials and contact details
  • Usage data for system improvement and AI feature optimisation

2. How We Use Your Information

All patient data is processed solely for the purpose of providing clinical and administrative services to the subscribing medical practice. We do not sell, share, or use patient data for marketing, advertising, or AI model training.

3. Data Storage and Security

  • All data is hosted in South African data centres
  • Encryption: AES-256 at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit
  • Practice isolation: each practice's data is completely separated using row-level security
  • Access is controlled through per-user permissions set by the practice administrator

4. AI Features

Practora uses AI-powered features for clinical decision support, lab interpretation, and document generation. Patient data sent to AI services is encrypted in transit, processed ephemerally, and never stored or used for model training by AI providers.

5. Data Retention

Patient records are retained for as long as the subscribing practice maintains their account, in accordance with South African medical record retention requirements (minimum 5 years after last consultation). Practices may request data export or deletion at any time.

6. Your Rights

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), data subjects have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of their personal information. Requests should be directed to the relevant medical practice, who may use Practora to fulfil these requests.
